Baobab Montessori

About Us

Baobab Montessori is set in a peaceful, safe and caring environment where children are able to grow and develop through love and respect.

We cater for toddlers between 18 months and 3 years and children between the ages of 3 to 6 years.

Our operating hours are from 7.30am to 17.30pm daily. Pick up time for half day is between 12.30 and 1pm.

Children are required to bring their own water and snack, however a mid-morning fruit snack will be provided for the children during their work cycle. Children staying full day will be provided with a hot lunch and afternoon fruit snack.

We also offer holiday care for the children over part of our school holidays.

Daily Programme

The following schedule shows the work cycle that the children will be introduced to on a daily basis:

  • 7.30 - 8.30am  Arrivals and supervised free play
  • 8.30 - 11.00am  Reading time followed by the work cycle
  • 11.00 - 12.30pm  Break time followed by supervised free play
  • 12.30 - 1.00pm  Pick up time for half day children
  • 1.00 - 17:30pm  Lunch time for full day children, followed by the aftercare program

The above schedule serves only as a very general guide, to allow parents to understand what their child will do during the day. Montessori school’s day programmes are not as regimented and are very flexible so as to vary with the day-to-day temperaments of the children. The key here is flexibility, which is essential when dealing with children.

The philosophy of Baobab Montessori is based on the following:

1 Maria Montessori believed that the most important years of a child’s life are between the ages of 0-6, where their minds are like sponges absorbing everything, whether unconsciously or consciously. These formative years are not to be ignored and our task is to develop children's young minds so that they can develop into people who make a difference and contribute to the world around them.

2 The directress is to ensure that she guides children on their correct developmental path and to remove any obstacles they may face, either physical or intellectual. She is to care for the children’s environment as it is in the environment in which children become secure with themselves and are the most content.

Mission Statement

“To provide each child with a better understanding of themselves and the world around them, to encourage them to give respect and love to all, and to provide them with the knowledge, insight and awareness to help develop them into a caring independent individual."
